Behind the scenes at the Holiday Ian

11 May

Hi everyone!

As you may or may not know, I do a lot of work with Ian Eskelin, a producer for Word Records.  Most of the work we do together is at his studio in Franklin, Tennessee, hilariously named the “Holiday Ian,” which automatically makes me think of polyester jumpsuits and extremely skinny microphones.

But I digress.

Ian and I have recorded many great artists in these rooms, including Chris August, Francesca Battistelli, and Bebe and Cece Winans.  Great microphones, great mic pres, great vibe… It’s a small studio but it gets the job done.

He was kind enough to let Alfa and I work on The Idle Hours record whenever the studio had any downtime, and it’s been wonderful.  It’s a great place to record, and we couldn’t be more grateful for his generosity.

It hasn’t been all recording, though.  The video shows one of our not-so-typical days at the Holiday Ian.  On this day, Alfa and I had been working quite a bit, and were equal parts giddy and exhausted.  I think you see plenty of both in this video…
